Secrets to ALDI you didn’t know | ultimate grocery savings

Now more than ever, saving money is an essential skill, and with food being one of the easiest categories to go over budget, I am here to bring you some of the best tips on how to get the most out of your money and tips for shopping secrets to ALDI.

Aldi is not the cheapest on every single item in the store however, being that most every item has a comparable if not competitive price, I find I can save the most money by shopping at ALDI for the majority of our weekly needs.

Secrets to ALDI you didn’t know | ultimate grocery savings

I fell in love with ALDI when I first moved to southern Indiana. I’d always hear of the great deals they offered, however once I moved, finally I had the chance to check it out! Boy it was enlightening and has been such fun to learn how to shop there for our family. It seriously is one of my favorite stores 😍

There are a few things that I have not found at ALDI like specific items or brands that I trust like Toms of Maine, so I will shop at other stores for those. Typically I can buy what I need for the week at ALDI and just make a special trip to another store once in a while.

Before getting into my favorite deals and items to look for, here are a few tips for a great experience when going to ALDI.

A few guidelines to make your shopping trip go smoothly!

  1. You must bring a quarter if you would like a cart.

Because ALDI cuts costs in places like this, they can pass on deals to me and you! I am more than happy to put my cart back and they don’t keep your quarter for long. Once you put away the cart you can take your quarter back.

Although I’ve been shopping at ALDI now for several years, I still once in a while find myself without a quarter. The employees don’t usually mind if you borrow a cart or they will help you get a quarter if you do happen to misplace your cart token.

2. Don’t forget to bring your own bags or be prepared to pay for a few if you need them. They are not terribly expensive if you need a few.

 3. Bring an ice chest

Want to know my number one secret to a smooth ALDI shopping trip? Bring your ice chest for cold items,  extra bonus if it has wheels. This is especially useful in the summer.

I used to have a small ice chest which did work for a good bit of my frozen and refrigerated foods however I now have a medium-large lifetime ice chest and it was love at first sight!

Isn’t it funny what makes you happy as an adult, or even homemaker ? ☺️😂

Bringing our cooler makes transporting the groceries into the house (or apartment ) especially convenient as we can just roll them in from the car to the house. Wallah!

If I need to take care of My toddler for a little while right after getting home  I will leave my cold items in the ice chest and it keeps them nice and chilly till I can put them away In the freezer or  the refrigerator.

The more the merrier – The more cold items packed in the ice chest together, the longer all the items stay at a nice cool temperature.

Sales and special offers

While ALDI does not have coupons, they do run sales and sell special seasonal items through the year. I receive an ALDI AD each week, and I do try to skim through it to catch any good deals I don’t want to miss at the store.

There are so many items I’d rather buy at ALDI if I can, due to their competitive pricing.

Home and Garden at ALDI

Although the main items  I go for are food items, I always make a point to look at ALDI household items and flex Isles. There are usually a few gems, which leads me to these last secrets to ALDI.

Which if Your trying to stick to a tighter budget, it is a good idea to skip those Isles for the sake of your purse 👜 or wallet 😉

I love buying kitchen canisters and storage items at ALDI, as not only are they pretty and reasonably priced, they are really great in quality.  I bought a specific brand of kitchen storage containers off of Amazon thinking they were going to be a great solution and by now most of the containers have cracked. NOT so with the items I’ve bought at ALDI for cooking and kitchen use! The Aldi household brand is Crofton and I’ve found that their kitchen storage canisters are Quality durable containers that also have an aesthetically pleasing look. I specifically bought sturdy clear containers with white seals so they are very versatile.

Greeting cards. While they do not have a huge collection they do carry some seasonal cards and I’ve found some super cute ones. If I see a card I like and have an occasion coming up I grab it while I can. They’re CHEAP 🤩

Cook ware – From utensils to baking sheets, casserole dishes and frying pans. I recently bought a light large cast iron pan and it is my new favorite go-to pan for dinner.

Serve ware – ALDI seasonally carries beautiful serve ware like carafes, trays, glasses and platters.

Decor – whether it be holiday door signs, prints, blankets or small furniture aldi always has some new kind of textile to make your home cozy and inviting.

Check out their flex isles And holiday ware as they always get neat and quality items whether it be in the kids, house or food categories.

One huge must have tip ……

When in doubt buy it, you CAN return it later

If you find something that you would possibly want more than one or two but want to test it out, buy all that you would want and test it out at home, if it doesn’t work,  they are super friendly about returns. It may not be there later and they do not routinely restock those special items, buy it when you see it!
