This last week I made waffles using my versatile Pancake Recipe and I topped them with chobani honey yogurt, sliced strawberries and blackberries. They were so good. No syrup or butter even needed which is amazing to me! So I’m calling them honey yogurt and berry waffles.
I’m your slather it in butter kinda gal, and I love maple syrup or honey on my waffles buuutt… this is a lighter option and with the yogurt, adds another good protein to the meal for sustained energy.
I won’t pretend to be a dietitian but I do try to prepare healthier options for our family when and where I can. This one was extra tasty so I had to share!
These waffles would be a fun brunch idea. Lighter and with fresh fruit. Add any other breakfast addition such as egg, bacon or sausage for a bit of savory on the side.

My tips on ingredients for honey yogurt and berry waffles

  • For the waffles I usually use regular all purpose flour but you could totally substitute part of the flour for whole wheat or another grain of choice. I would replace 1/4-1/3 cup flour at a time with your choice of whole grain flour until it is the flavor and consistency you prefer.
  • Use your choice of berries. We used fresh sliced strawberries and blackberries which are currently in season.
  • For the yogurt I used one of our favorites, chobani brand honey flavored Greek yogurt.

Make your own honey yogurt

you can also skip the extra ingredients and make your own honey yogurt by using plain Greek yogurt and stirring in raw honey to taste.
I do this quite often and our family really enjoys it.
